Welcome to Featherway Road - a culturally grounded space dedicated to empowering First Nations families. We offer culturally sensitive counselling and behavioural support for neurodiverse children. Our name symbolises the journey of life, guided by tradition, resilience, and the transformative power of community.

Our Journey, Mission, and Vision

Featherway Road was founded by Debra Fernando, a proud Bigambul, Gomeroi woman, deeply connected to the Gamilaraay language nation in far northwest NSW. With over 30 years of experience working with First Nations communities, Debra created Featherway Road to provide culturally sensitive Behavioural specialist services for neurodiverse children and their families.

Our name, Featherway Road, symbolises life’s journey, its challenges (potholes), and the spiritual guidance (feathers) that help us grow.

Our mission is to empower First Nations families by bridging the gap between behavioural therapy and cultural values, creating sustainable, inclusive solutions for children and families.

Our Approach to Support

At Featherway Road, we believe in:

  • Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) to encourage emotional regulation and holistic development.
  • Strength-based therapies that align with Indigenous cultural practices.
  • Inclusion and empowerment for every family we serve.
